BASIC AND ADVANCE BIKE MAINTENANCE WORKSHOP

(A) Basic Bike maintenance workshop (30th Nov 2014 @ NSRCC).

This work shop is aiming at bicycle owners who want to learn how to maintain their bikes, identify potential problem and be able to fix some of the simple problems. Some of the problems may require specialist attention.

1.Gear tuning: understanding all the screws on your gear and how to use them to tune your gears.

2.Cleaning the gears: how to clean the gears

3.Gear Maintenance: what is wet oil, what is dry oil, what to watch out for while oiling

4.How to clean your bike: what to watch out for while cleaning the bike

5.When to change the parts

6.Periodical checks

7. Pre-ride checks

8. How to change the tire

(B) Advance Bike Maintenance Workshop

The emphasis in this class is "Watch, Learn and Hands-on". Tools will be provided. Tools and Lubricants can be purchased in the class. Participants are encourage to bring their bikes and the bikes details and photo should be submitted to SAFRA at least one week prior to the workshop.

1. Remove and install brakes and shifter cable after inspection, cleaning and lubricating.

2. Remove and install chain after checking for wear, cleaning and lubricating.

3. Remove and install front and rear derailer after cleaning and lubricating.

4. Remove and install front and rear brakes after cleaning and lubricating.

5. Remove and install crank after cleaning and lubricating.

6. Remove and install bottom bracket after checking for wear, cleaning and lubricating.

7. Remove and install cassettes after cleaning and lubricating.

8. Remove and install head set after checking for bearing wear, cleaning and lubricating.

9. Remove and install seat post after cleaning and lubricating.

10. Calibrating the derailer upper and lower limiter screws

 

Your hands will be dirtied and experience will be earned by participating in this workshop.
